Tahmina Akter - Tahmina Akter – Dreaming of Becoming a Doctor One Day!
01 January 2013
One day, we asked Tahmina what she wished for from Allah. She was quiet for a moment, then from deep inside, she said—she only wants to meet her mother once. Looking into Tahmina’s eyes at that moment was very painful. It is hard to express that feeling in words. Still, twelve-year-old Tahmina is always a happy and lively girl. Despite her painful past, we have never seen her without a smile.
One day, a young man saw Tahmina sitting alone beside a small shop. Later, he found out that her grandmother had deliberately left her there and gone away. The young man quickly took action and, with the help of the police, took her to a safe shelter. When we found Tahmina, she was only five years old. We brought her from another shelter home and immediately made her a part of a loving and safe family. Tahmina is very lively, curious, and joyful. She loves to sing and dance. She is smart and learns quickly. She is very excited about her future and dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She wants to move forward in life. Tahmina likes reading and storytelling. But she is a little naughty and sometimes behaves in a messey way.
At Umbrelă, she sometimes acts restlessly. That is why we have her counseled by a psychologist. She is always smiling and a bit playful. Tahmina can take good leadership responsibilities. She loves eating payesh rice pudding the most. Rice pudding the most is not necessary unless you’re styling, but I’ve kept the original format.
We are proud and happy to be part of this story of change in Tahmina’s life! May Tahmina continue to smile, learn, and grow—with the quiet support of kind hearts who believe in her future.
