Safe Shelter
A safe shelter is basic a right of every human being
Umbrelă aims to provide a safe and nonjudgmental residential facility for destitute women and children by providing comprehensive care until their sustainable rehabilitation in society.
Many women and children in Bangladesh are struggling to shelter from the devastating situations they encounter every day. They need to have a safe home together with support services and other basic needs. We offer our women and children a place to live, which is not merely a house with a roof but a place they can call home with a family culture and value offering comprehensive supervision.
Reuniting children to their families
We believe that there is no better place for a child to grow up happily than at his/her own home. Yet many children have no choice but to live in orphanages or shelters without parents.
For many poor parents, putting their children in institutions seems to be the best way to ensure their access to basic services such as education and healthcare.
Children have a right to effective care and support in a protective and nurturing family environment. We do not allow any children to stay at Umbrelă who have living parents, it totally depends on the circumstance or situation of an individual child.
Rather, we offer a program that supports the parents for the education of their children and encourages them to keep the children with them.
For abandoned children, we have a mission to reunite the children with their families or find them loving home through foster care, adoption and other family care.
For Family Reunification Process:
- Tailoring Family-Centered Services to each family’s circumstances.
- Addressing the issue(s) that brought the child and family into the family reunification efforts.
