Md. Joni - When Care Changes Everything

15 January 2010

Jony is a 15-year-old boy who lost his mother, Rahena, at a young age. After her passing, his father, Jamal Uddin, was unable to look after the children properly. He didn’t keep them with him, and the home environment was no longer safe for them. Left without proper care or protection, Jony and his siblings were vulnerable and at risk.

Before coming under our care, Jony was sent to several madrasas, but he never stayed long. He often ran away, unsettled and searching for stability. Eventually, one of our staff members came to know about Jony and his siblings, and all three were brought into the shelter of Umbrelă Foundation.

Even after joining us, Jony initially tried to run away once more. But gradually, he began to adjust. Now he is studying in Class Seven and doing fairly well. Still, no matter how much we try to create a better life for them, the longing for their family remains. Holidays are the hardest—Jony becomes restless, counting the days to visit home.

We do everything we can to support children like Jony in overcoming their painful pasts. We organize outings, tours, and picnics to bring joy into their lives. If any child is emotionally distressed, we provide counseling with professional psychologists.

One of Jony’s special qualities is his observant nature—he quietly notices everything around him. Since joining Umbrelă, he has shown wonderful improvement in studies, sports, and drawing. He’s growing steadily into a thoughtful and capable young person.

Jony dreams of becoming a businessman, not just for himself but so he can help the poor and helpless by offering jobs and support. His story is a reminder of what children can become when given care, safety, and love.

Will you help change the future of more children like Jony?
