Maysha - Maisha’s World of Wonder
02 April 2018
A bright giggle often echoes through the rooms of Umbrelă Home—that’s probably Maisha. Mischievous in the sweetest way, she’s rarely seen without a sparkle in her eye or a skip in her step.
But behind her playful charm lies a past marked by deep hardship. Maisha lost her father when she was just three. Her mother, left to raise four children alone, began to struggle with both financial stress and mental health. Some days, she would wander the streets, overwhelmed and unable to care for her young ones.
Home became unpredictable. Meals were uncertain—sometimes one a day, sometimes none. Clothes, school, even safety—everything was slipping away. Maisha was enrolled in a local school briefly, but no one could support her learning at home.
Hope came from an unexpected place. A relative of another Umbrelă child told Maisha’s family about the Foundation. When she arrived, she was only six.
Now in Class 1, Maisha thrives in the warmth and safety of Umbrelă. Her laughter fills the home, her notebooks are filled with scribbles, and her dreams are growing louder. She wants to become a schoolteacher one day—“So I can help other children understand what I didn’t,” she says with a grin.
She spends her days studying, playing her favorite games like Rosh, Kosh, Bulbuli, and sharing snacks with her best friend Tahia. Among all foods, she has a soft spot for sweets and chanachur.
Every day, Maisha takes small, joyful steps toward a better future. And every step is possible because someone chose to care.
You can be part of her journey. Sponsor a child like Maisha—and help turn little steps into lifelong dreams.
