Fatema Tabassum Maya - She Has Found a Safe, Better Place to Live

11 October 2013 (Age: 10)

Fatima says that she is happy and feels at home, living here with us at Umbrelă. She has begun to dream and look at life with renewed hope.

Fatima's life has been a series of unfortunate events. After a traumatic accident, her father, Monir, became mentally disabled. Despite his condition, he has remarried twice. Her mother, Ruby, left her, at a very tender age, right after her father's accident.

Seeing the unfortunate turn of events, her aunt and uncle took her in. They enrolled her in a Madrasah nearby, where she studied until class-1. Even though they wanted to take care of her, they struggled to make ends meet as the whole family depended on her uncle's minimal income. So they began looking for a place where Fatima would continue her education and receive the love and care she deserves. That is how our dear Fatima ended up becoming a part of the Umbrela family.

Fatima, having a shy personality, is sporty and loves playing football, jumping rope, and pillow-passing. She also likes to study, take Arabic lessons, play with kitchen sets and listen to stories.

Fatima started school again in January 2020 in Class One and aspires to be an exemplary teacher when she grows up.

Fatima has every right to learn, live and smile. With your help, she is having the better life that she deserves.
