Md. Mohiuddin - Journey of Hope
01 January 2012 (Age: 13)
Mohiuddin, embraced by Umbrelă, reflects on his family’s journey. “We were a family of six persons - my parents, three brothers and one sister. When my father tried to look for work, people avoided him for his physical disability. My mother had to manage everything alone. Before Umbrelă, I never went to school. It was difficult for my mother to arrange our meals, let alone send us to school.”
He added, “Though I have teachers at Umbrela, learning is challenging for me, because I never studied anything in my early years. I'm making progress. Still, I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow. I’m living well here.” He continued with a sigh, “Yet at times I think about my home and I miss it”
The struggles at home made education seem like a distant dream for Mohiuddin. But since finding his way to Umbrella, Mahiuddin's world has changed. Despite the hardships, he found a glimmer of hope and opportunity at Umbrela. As Mohiuddin embarks on this new chapter of his life, he holds onto the dream of a brighter tomorrow—a future where he can stand tall and make his mother proud.
He expressed his dream “I'll strive to better myself to make my mother happy.”
With his shy and quiet personality, he still finds joy on the football field, where he can express himself freely, and in savoring the simple pleasure of eating pizza with Umbrelă buddies.
